Lady Gaga didn’t need a meat dress or futuristic egg to grab attention at the
Mugler fashion show in Paris Wednesday night: Lady Gaga worked the catwalk with a vengence and sex appeal. Hitting the runway in a sheer black minidress, sporting long blond pigtails, the pop star was greeted by cheers from the stylish crowd, which included
Vogue editor Anna Wintour. The autumn/winter 2011 womenswear collection — designed for the first time by the singer’s stylist, Nicola Formichetti — was presented in a public gym decked out with black curtains and white Gothic arches, as an unheard Gaga track, “Government Hooker,” premiered. Before the show, which was live-streamed via Mugler’s Facebook page, a nervous Gaga told pals, “I want people to see me walk and say, ‘She is a Mugler woman. Seriously, I’m so nervous.” But nerves weren’t an issue: after her initial appearance, the singer pulled a quick change and returned to the runway to close the show in an ethereal white gown and eight- or nine-inch heels as her latest single “Born This Way” blasted in the background. –
