'American Reunion': Universal Plans New 'American Pie' Sequel

Perhaps Jason Biggs will be teaching his son about the joys of baking.

Hungry for a hit and with a classic property ready in the works, Universal is bringing the original cast from the smash "American Pie" trilogy back for an awkward fourth coming of age experience. Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott and Eugene Levy have already signed on to do a fourth "Pie" movie, with deals in the works for Thomas Ian Nicholas, Tara Reid, Chris Klein, Mena Suvari and Jennifer Coolidge to come back aboard, as well.

"I know that Universal wants to do it. We want to be involved in it. Because of the affection we hold for the story and the characters. We want to get as many former cast members back as possible," he told the site. "In some ways, like any reunion, it would be about the nostalgia element. For the time that it came out. For how people felt when they first saw it. And now to experience it again with all the pathos and humor that implies."

Of course, that didn't give any plot points away, but another party involved did discuss potential story lines. William Scott spoke with WorstPreviews.net about a prospective film in February; at the time, he said he'd been working on developing it, but may not appear in it, though that's now clearly not the case. He gave some insight into the idea behind the film, saying, "It would be everybody back. The idea would probably be the kind of high-school reunion. It would be centered around that. Just catching up with everybody.

"I love seeing these guys at that age, they are fatter, Stifler is chubby. It's that age where you're 29-30, and you go 'is this really where I thought I was going to be?' It's kind of a different point in your life. There might be something there."
